It started out like any other sunny Saturday afternoon.
After a year of disappointments with so many events being cancelled it was exciting to be able to run the Kinloch Off-Road Challenge.
It was a great turn out for Sweeney Cup.
Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty held their Centre Road Champs on the NZ Champs course at St Peter’s, Cambridge.
This year produced fast times on a revised course.
Great fun, and a good challenge for those new to multi sport type events.
Good to see many Hawks runners taking podiums in their respective grades. Well done to all those who raced and congrats to those who placed.
Awesome day for a fun 3 person mixed relay event – 3 x 3k laps around the picturesque Lake Kainui (Lake D).
128 runners showed up for the Hawks Cross Country Champs.

All teams finished within two and a half minutes of the winner showing how competitive this race was.
Saturday saw the Gilchrist Rosebowl at the lake. An ever popular event we had 32 adults and 7 children racing.
Well the weather held out for the first official club event of the year.
Under the leadership of Hadley, myself, Eastside regular Blair Tupp and a couple of medics, our job was to manage the back 3rd of the field.
This years Club Road Champs was held on a private road at 400 Raynes Road.
There was some really good pack racing for the lucky, and some solo racing for the ambitious, or unlucky.
