SUMMARY:The Compass Run
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nRace is 5k. Runners will be divided into 4 quarters from where they live.\nWest/east line is the Waikato River.\nNorth /south is Whatawhata-Massey-Mill- Boundary 5th Ave out out to Raglan and Morrinsville either side. \nYou run for that quarter.\nScoring: 1 point for 1st\, 2 for 2nd \,3 for 3rd etc. Team with the lowest points wins. In the event of uneven teams\, they will be evened up to make it equal. \nAgenda:\nClub rooms doors open at 12.30\nPick teams and then Jog/drive to lake for 1.30\n5k for adults at 2pm – 1 x 1km\, 2 x 2km laps\n1k or 2k options for kids but will race with the adults. \nBring a plate for afternoon tea\n\nHawks Past Results as School of Origin

SUMMARY:Hawks Relay at Taitua Arboretum
DESCRIPTION:The race is approximately a 3km all gravel loop of the Taitua Arboretum. Hope to have a traditional relay format\, depending on numbers. \nThis is a standard relay race with each runner running around a 3 km lap on hard packed unsealed paths and grass\, twisting through the tree park. \nBring a snack and enjoying the Arboretum after the run. \nWhere: Taitua Arboretum ( Take Whatawhata road out of town. After passing the golf club\, turn left into Howden Road. Then left into Taitua Road. Meet in the Arboretum car park at the end of Taitua Road. \nWhen: Saturday 16 th June \nArrive: 1:00pm at carpark off end of Taitua Road – confirmation in weekly newsletter. \nWhat: We will select EVENLY MATCHED TEAMS of four runners each\, from the people that attend. \n \n

SUMMARY:Club Cross Country Champs
DESCRIPTION:This is a major event on the club calendar each year. Held at Minogue Park\, meeting next to the miniature railway. The course covers a 3km lap and/or a 2km lap\, with a 1km lap for the younger juniors. It is a challenging course with some hills and it can be wet and muddy. Suits Spikes or Trail shoes (or bare feet for the brave). \nThis year the committee has decided to allow junior runners to run up 1 grade only\, and to limit anyone to running  1 race on the day. Please don’t put a club official in the awkward position of dealing with anyone who is not following these rules. \nBring a plate and hot water flask along for afternoon tea at Minogue Park \nHawks Past Results \nRace Times: \nWe will be having 2 races only. The U11s and U 13s foirts off\, then everybody else. \nAs we have no power onsite\, please bring a thermos for your hot water\, along with a plate for afternoon tea. \n1.00 Register \n1.30 – U11 Boys/girls  (1km)\, U13 Boys/girls (2km) \n1.45 – U 15 Boys/ girls (3km) \n-U18 Boys (6km) \n-U18 Girls (5km) \n-U20 Men (6km) \n-U20 Women (5km) \n-SM 20-39 (9km) \n-SW 20-34 (6km) \n-MM 40-49\, 50-59\, 60+ (6km) \n-MW 35-49\, 50-59\, 60+ (5km) \n \nEvent History\nWe have used the race course come Minogue Park since the club’s inception in 1928 with a few years exception in the late 70s & 80s.  There have been various course changes over the years. In the late 60s\, for example\, the Centennial Pools (now Waterworld) were built smack bang in the middle of our course. It was a good running course then (with a heap of high fences) as is our current course.  Yes it does get a bit wet during the raining season\, but\, hey\, that’s cross country.  Merely running the course\, we are steeped in history. The current course was designed by Gordon Speirs in the mid 90s\, with only minor changes since.

DESCRIPTION:80% hard packed metal\, 30% grass. \nMeet at 2PM at the “Overflow” carpark Brymer Road. Rotokauri.\n(opposite side of the road from main Zoo carpark) \nWe will select EVENLY MATCHED TEAMS OF TWO RUNNERS each\, from the people that attend. \nEach team will run a maximum of two 4km legs and two 2km legs.\nLegs run in RANDOM distance order\, but team members must alternate. (NOT run consecutive legs) \nKeeping your running option secret will increase the competition. \nPlease NOTE. We have permission to use the Zoo toilets\, but you must mention that we are part of the Hawks event.Afternoon tea is not provided\, but please feel free to BYO refreshments. \nSee you all at WAIWHAKAREKE Natural Heritage Park.
