DESCRIPTION:This is a very popular event on the Hawks calendar and brings in many who haven’t attended the earlier cross country races. The format is a handicap road race whereby each entrant has a starting time based on their estimated 5km time. Slowest start first. \nIt will be held at Horsham Downs hall/school\, as in previous years. \nEvent Program:\n12:30 –1 pm.  Registration\n1:00 pm Boys & Girls U15   2 km.\n1:15 pm First Sweeney Cupper leaves\n2:00 pm-ish Most runners start\n2:45 pm Afternoon tea and prizes (please bring a plate) \nRegistration\nAll runners and walkers collect a timing tag and CALCULATE their own finishing time from the table showing 5k times (and last years results).\nClub runners will be given a numbered tag. \nBase Manager – Graham Dudfield

DESCRIPTION:Taking in some of Hamilton’s best known landmarks\, the 12km and 6km courses include the scenic Waikato River paths and the iconic Hamilton bridges. Kids event 2km. \nRound the Bridges is one of the oldest annually contested events in New Zealand. SUMMARY:Club Cross Country Champs - Open Event
DESCRIPTION:This is a major event on the club calendar each year. Held at Minogue Park\, meeting next to the miniature railway\, at the end of Tui Avenue. \nThe course covers a 3 km lap and/or a 2 km lap\, with a 1 km lap for the younger juniors. It is a challenging course with some hills and it can be wet and muddy. Suits Spikes or Trail shoes (or bare feet for the brave). \nClick here to register online prior to the event. \nJunior runners can only run up 1 grade\, and we limit anyone to running  1 race on the day. \nPlease wear your Club Singlet as this is an open event to all Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics Clubs.\nBring a plate and hot water flask along for afternoon tea at Minogue Park. \nHawks Past Results \nRace Times: \nWe will be having 2 races only. In the late 60s\, for example\, the Centennial Pools (now Waterworld) were built smack bang in the middle of our course. It was a good running course then (with a heap of high fences) as is our current course.  Yes\, it does get a bit wet during the raining season\, but\, hey\, that’s cross country.  Merely running the course\, we are steeped in history. The current course was designed by Gordon Speirs in the mid-90s\, with only minor changes since.

DESCRIPTION:This is a fun 3 person mixed relay event – 3 x 3k laps around the picturesque Lake Kainui (Lake D) at Horsham Downs. DESCRIPTION:Trophy day is a handicap start and not to be missed! Lots of trophies up for grabs\, and you may just score one\, forget\, and then be pleasantly surprised at the prize giving in October. \nThis is a handicap race from the clubrooms with a staggered start based on your approximate or estimated 5km time – so in theory\, everyone should finish together. In the past\, there have been some very exciting finishes with the bulk of the field often only within 30 or 40 seconds. It’s a great chance for those who aren’t normally near the front to scoop one of the clubs most sought after trophies (…and to test your maths and timing skills). \nDoors open at 12.30 pm \nRegistrations taken from then onwards this is a handicap  5 km race so runners need to estimate their time they will do. \nKids 2 km race is first at 1.30 pm mass start here. \n5 km race starts at 1.50 with the clock counting down and runners leave once their time they estimated comes up. \nBring a plate for afternoon tea

DESCRIPTION:The Sing Relay is a unique two-person fun relay on a 5km course and run in the “Helen Hall-King’s race format” from the clubrooms. This is a relay for all abilities and is loads of fun. You will either run less or more than 5km depending on your ability and that of your team member. Teams picked at 1.30 and the race starting at 1.50pm.\n\nKids welcome – they can take part in the relay too (or we will have a kids race\, depending on numbers and ages). \nAt this stage this event won’t be held from the Hawks clubrooms. DESCRIPTION:RNR (NgarotoNowhere…) \nAs we are not attending NRR this year\, the club is instead arranging this fun relay style event as an alternative. \nThe format will be 3 people relay teams completing a lap of the lake each (5.9km). The 3 people kids race will be one lap completed collectively.\nWe will meet at the second carpark at the end of Banks Rd at 12:30pm to register and sort out teams\, with the intention we kick it off at 1pm…(it should take around 1:10 – 1:40 for the 3 x laps)\n\nMeet at this carp park at 12:30 for registrations with the race starting at 13:00.\nLink to the Facebook event <<here>> \nWe will also extended the invite to Cambridge\, Te Awamutu\, and Frankton clubs to enter teams – so there could be a good bit of old fashioned inter-club rivalry driving the performances on the day… \nWe plan to have a BBQ at the completion of the race\, so hope to see you there. It should be a fun day out in a great setting. \n

Registrations will be taken on the day.\nThe course covers a 3 km lap and/or a 2 km lap\, with a 1 km lap for the younger juniors.\nIt is a challenging course with some hills and it can be wet and muddy. Suits Spikes or Trail shoes (or bare feet for the brave).\nJunior runners can only run up one grade\, and we limit anyone to running one race on the day.\n\nPlease wear your Club Singlet as this is an open event to all Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics Clubs.\nBring a plate and hot water flask along for afternoon tea at Minogue Park.\n\nRace Times:\nRegistration at 13:00 onwards\n13:30 – Under 10s and under 12s\n14:00 – everyone else\n\nDistances per age grade are:\nU10 boys and girls – 1km\nU12 boys and girls – 2 km\nU14 and U16 boys and girls – 3km\nU18 boys – 6km\nU18 girls – 5km\nU20 men – 6km\nU20 women – 5km\nSM 20-39 – 9km\nSW 20-34 – 6km\nMM 40-49\, 50-59 & 60+ – 6km\nMW 35-49\, 50-59 & 60+ – 5km\nThe age grades will be sorted by age on the day.\n \nEvent History\nWe have used the Minogue Park since the club’s inception in 1928 with a few years except in the late 70s & 80s.  There have been various course changes over the years. In the late 60s\, for example\, the Centennial Pools (now Waterworld) were built smack bang in the middle of our course. It was a good running course then (with a heap of high fences) as is our current course.  Yes\, it does get a bit wet during the raining season\, but\, hey\, that’s cross country.  Merely running the course\, we are steeped in history. The current course was designed by Gordon Speirs in the mid-90s\, with only minor changes since.

DESCRIPTION:The Sing Relay is a unique two-person fun relay on a 5km course and run in the “Helen Hall-King’s race format” from the Memorial Park.\nMeet at the airplane in Memorial Park at 13:00 for registration\, teams picked at 1.30 and the race starting at 1.50pm.\n\nBoth team members start together. However\, the faster runner runs ahead to the half way point and then turns around to meet their other runner. At the point of meeting\, both runners turn around and run back to finish line the exact way they have just run. The team that takes top honours is the team that has both runners home first.\n\nThis is a relay for all abilities and is loads of fun. You will either run less or more than 5km depending on your ability and that of your team member.\nKids welcome – they can take part in the relay too (or we will have a kids race\, depending on numbers and ages).\n\nWe will be heading to Eastside Tavern for a drink after the race so please join us.

DESCRIPTION:Trophy day is a handicap start and not to be missed! Lots of trophies up for grabs\, and you may just score one\, forget\, and then be pleasantly surprised at the prize giving in October. \nThis is a handicap race from the clubrooms with a staggered start based on your approximate or estimated 5km time – so in theory\, everyone should finish together. In the past\, there have been some very exciting finishes with the bulk of the field often only within 30 or 40 seconds. It’s a great chance for those who aren’t normally near the front to scoop one of the clubs most sought after trophies (…and to test your maths and timing skills). \nDoors open at 12.30 pm \nRegistrations taken from then onwards this is a handicap  5 km race so runners need to estimate their time they will do. \nKids 2 km race is first at 1.30 pm mass start here. \n5 km race starts at 1.50 with the clock counting down and runners leave once their time they estimated comes up. \nBring a plate for afternoon tea
