SUMMARY:Club Cross Country Champs
DESCRIPTION:Hamilton City Hawks Cross Country Championships – held at Minogue Park\, meeting at the end of Tui Avenue.\n\nThe course covers a 3 km lap and/or a 2 km lap\, with a 1 km lap for the younger juniors. It is a challenging course with some hills and it can be wet and muddy. Suits Spikes or Trail shoes (or bare feet for the brave).\n\nJunior runners can only run up one grade\, and we limit anyone to running one race on the day.\n\nPlease wear your Club Singlet as this is an open event to all Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics Clubs.\nBring a plate and hot water flask along for afternoon tea at Minogue Park.\n\nRace Times:\nRegistration at 12:30 onwards\n13:30 – Under 10s and under 12s\n14:00 – everyone else\nDistances per age grade are:\nU10 boys and girls – 1km\nU12 boys and girls – 2 km\nU14 and U16 boys and girls – 3km\nU18 boys – 6km\nU18 girls – 5km\nU20 men – 6km\nU20 women – 5km\nSM 20-39 – 9km\nSW 20-34 – 6km\nMM 40-49\, 50-59 & 60+ – 6km\nMW 35-49\, 50-59 & 60+ – 5km\nThe age grades will be sorted by age on the day.\n\n \nEvent History\nWe have used the Minogue Park since the club’s inception in 1928 with a few years except in the late 70s & 80s.  There have been various course changes over the years. In the late 60s\, for example\, the Centennial Pools (now Waterworld) were built smack bang in the middle of our course. It was a good running course then (with a heap of high fences) as is our current course.  Yes\, it does get a bit wet during the rainy season\, but\, hey\, that’s cross country.  Merely running the course\, we are steeped in history. The current course was designed by Gordon Speirs in the mid-90s\, with only minor changes since.

DESCRIPTION:This is a great annual event\, even for those who are not that comfortable running cross country\, as it covers rolling park-like grounds and is well drained underfoot. This event is open to all athletes. There is a huge turn out from clubs through out the North Island. \nThe course is firm\, fast and flowing\, and later you can enjoy the free thermal pools at the river’s edge behind the venue. \nApproved by Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty\, Athletics New Zealand.\nSanctioned Event \nRun under Athletics NZ rules as open races and membership of a running club NOT essential\n(Any runner can enter and win place medals) \nEntries are easily done on-line view here \nOn-line entries close on the week prior\, but on the day entries are available at late fee x 2.\nThis event is also open to non-club members. \nCompetitors will be issued with tickets that can be exchanged for a hot drink and muffin at the venue. \n\nHawks Past Results

SUMMARY:Sing Relay
DESCRIPTION:The Sing Relay is a unique two-person fun relay on a 5km course along The Cook course.\n\nThe faster runner runs towards Cobham bridge\, turning around just before the bridge to run back towards the start and meet their other runner\, whilst the slower runner runs up into Memorial gardens around the far tree\, turning to run back towards the start and their team mate.  At the point of meeting\, both runners turn around and run back to finish line the exact way they have just run. The team that takes top honours is the team that has both runners home first.\n\nThis is a relay for all abilities and is loads of fun. You will either run less or more than 5km depending on your ability and that of your team member. Teams will be picked on the day\n\nEither meet at the clubrooms with a warm up run to The Cook start or meet at The Cook start by 1.00pm.  Teams to be sorted at 1.00pm at the start.\nChildren’s 2km race at 1:15pm.\nRelay race starts at 1:30 pm\n\nWe will be heading to The Cook for a drink after the race so please join us.

DESCRIPTION:The Cambridge Half Marathon\, 10km and 5km is an annual running/walking event at Cambridge High School. \nThe Half Marathon course follows a low-traffic\, mainly flat\, extremely scenic course north and east of Cambridge\, along Flume\, Aspin and Maungakawa roads. The 10km course cuts through Tulip Drive and Watkins Road to join the half marathon course at around the 5km mark. DESCRIPTION:The Paper Plus Te Awamutu Athletic Club’s Golf Course Fun Run on 13 April 2024 is an off road fun run with a 3km\, 6km or 9km to choose from. \nThis is an event for all abilities with the unique ability to race on a Golf Course with a rolling aspect and good underfoot conditions\, suitable for spikes. Although adjacent to a main road the event offers a safe environment for families\, with kids able to finish their 3k run whilst their parents continue in their own event. \nAll athletes start at the same time and will complete one\, two or three 3km circuits. \nDistances/Events\nStudent 3K run\n3K walk\n6K run/walk\n9K run \nRace starts at 9.30am. DESCRIPTION:The MTF Finance Mauao King & Queen of the Mountain returns to Mount Maunganui on 21 April 2024\, organised by Athletics Tauranga. \nThe Senior race is a approx. 4.5km run along the main beach to the summit of Mauao (via the stairs)\, then down and back along the beach. There is also a Junior race (U15) that runs part way up Mauao to the tree/bush-line and back (approx 2.5km). \nThe start and finish line is on the Mount Main Surf Beach opposite Mt Drury near Leisure Island/Moturiki Island. \nThis event is a World Mountain Running affiliated race – the only one in the Oceania Region. \nDistances/Events\nJunior (U15): ~ 2.5K\nSenior: ~ 4.5K

DESCRIPTION:Event options include (all events can be run or walked); 21km half marathon\, 12km\, 6km\, and a 2km trail tigers kid’s dash. All events start and finish from our festival event site at the Hub. \nAll of the courses are on trails within the Craters forest MTB park\, so are largely MTB tracks\, although very\, very sweet for running and walking. Think pine-needle covered single track in one of the most amazing forests in this amazing country we get to play in! There will also be some forest road sections from time to time\, to link those really cool bits.

SUMMARY:Huntly Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The classic when it comes to Half Marathons\, the EVES Huntly Half Marathon is NZ’s longest running standalone Half Marathon event having started in 1981. \nThis course is one that is fast. It features a virtually flat single out and back route that follows the mighty Waikato River completely on sealed and closed roads. This course will only be used for the Half Marathon participants and no other event distances. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event involves the traditional Half Marathon distance of 21.1km\, along with a 10km\, 5km and Kids 2kms. All events have the option of either a Run or Walk. \nWe will need volunteers for lead bike\, and registrations.\nWe also have a 20% discount code of current hawks members\, please speak to Sandra Jensen for the code.
