DESCRIPTION:Hawks have been invited to attend Cambridge Harriers Club Cross Country event which is their Club Cross Country Champs event. \nSunday\, June 27\, 2021 at 1:15 PM – 2:45 PM \nKeeley’s Family Farm\, 333 Tirau Rd\, SH1\, Karapiro \nPlease note Different Entry Point onto the property. This has been changed due to major safety concerns getting back out onto SH1 after the event. New address for accessing property is 77 Newcombe Road which can only be accessed from the road coming from Cambridge past the Golf Course. So please advise your club members to come through Cambridge not down Expressway. Newcombe Rd is a side Rd on the left before you go under the Expressway. \nPlease meet at 1pm ready for a 1.30pm Start. also note there will be a little longer walk to get to the starting point. \nAfternoon Tea will be back at clubrooms after the event\, everyone welcome\, plate appreciated. \n \nAccess is via Newcombe Road\, accessible only via Tirau Road heading out of Cambridge past the Golf Course.\nTake the exit to the left marked Newcombe road and where there will be a Cambridge flag.

Registrations will be taken on the day.\nThe course covers a 3 km lap and/or a 2 km lap\, with a 1 km lap for the younger juniors.\nIt is a challenging course with some hills and it can be wet and muddy. Suits Spikes or Trail shoes (or bare feet for the brave).\nJunior runners can only run up one grade\, and we limit anyone to running one race on the day.\n\nPlease wear your Club Singlet as this is an open event to all Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics Clubs.\nBring a plate and hot water flask along for afternoon tea at Minogue Park.\n\nRace Times:\nRegistration at 13:00 onwards\n13:30 – Under 10s and under 12s\n14:00 – everyone else\n\nDistances per age grade are:\nU10 boys and girls – 1km\nU12 boys and girls – 2 km\nU14 and U16 boys and girls – 3km\nU18 boys – 6km\nU18 girls – 5km\nU20 men – 6km\nU20 women – 5km\nSM 20-39 – 9km\nSW 20-34 – 6km\nMM 40-49\, 50-59 & 60+ – 6km\nMW 35-49\, 50-59 & 60+ – 5km\nThe age grades will be sorted by age on the day.\n \nEvent History\nWe have used the Minogue Park since the club’s inception in 1928 with a few years except in the late 70s & 80s.  There have been various course changes over the years. In the late 60s\, for example\, the Centennial Pools (now Waterworld) were built smack bang in the middle of our course. It was a good running course then (with a heap of high fences) as is our current course.  Yes\, it does get a bit wet during the raining season\, but\, hey\, that’s cross country.  Merely running the course\, we are steeped in history. The current course was designed by Gordon Speirs in the mid-90s\, with only minor changes since.

DESCRIPTION:The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in Christchurch organise an annual ultramarathon at Hagley Park North in Christchurch\, with this year’s event on Sunday\, 25 Arpil 2021. \nThere are 100km and 50km races\, which follow a 2.5km loop course. The 100km can be run solo\, or as part of a 4 person relay team\, with each team member completing 25km. \nThe 100km Race is an IAU Bronze Label event and incorporates the Athletics New Zealand (link is external) National 100km Championships. SUMMARY:Huntly Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The event involves the traditional Half Marathon distance of 21.1km which is officially measured and certified under ANZ standards. There is also a 10km\, 5km and RUN kids 2km for Under 16-year-olds. All events have the option of either a Run or Walk. \nThis has been a new course for the past few years and produces fast times. It features a virtually flat single out & back route that follows the mighty Waikato River on completely on sealed roads. This course will only be used for the Half Marathon participants and no other event distances. \nThe Huntly Half Marathon has had a long and enviable history since it started back in March 1981.

SUMMARY:Te Awamutu Golf Course Run
DESCRIPTION:This is the 9th running of the Paperplus Te Awamutu Athletics Club Golf Course Fun Run held at the Te Awamutu Golf Club on Kihikihi Road. \nSaturday 17 April. The race starts at 9.30am. This event is open to the Public and Registered Athletes \nClick here to sign up and needs to be done by Thursday 15 April. \nPrizegiving – COVID allowing\, we hope to hold a prizegiving this year. Whilst things may change by then we will plan on the current rules. \nAn event for all abilites with the unique ability to race on a Golf Course with a rolling aspect and good underfoot conditions\, suitable for spikes. Although adjacent to a main road the event offers a safe environment for families\, with kids able to finish their 3k run whilst their parents continue in their own event. \nThere is a 3k run for Students $7\, a 3k and 6k walk and 6k and 9k run\, all $15. Online entries close at 10pm Thursday 15th April. We much prefer ‘online’ entries however we will take late entries on the day but ask that you bring the correct cash. A ‘late’ fee of $5 will apply. \nAll athletes start at the same time and will complete one\, two or three 3k circuits. Athletes will be issued with a race number and will recieve a finishing time and certificate. \nThe Golf Course will reopen to Members at 11am. Please ensure you or your supporters do not run or walk on any of the Greens. It is a privilege to have access to the Course – we don’t want to lose that. \nAll proceeds go into a Travel Fund to assist our Club’s athletes on representative duties. Thanks for your support. \nA Special Event – for those that are interested there will be a ‘Speed Golf’ event starting at about 12pm. This will have a $5 entry and your welcome to give this a go. I think there will be 9 and 18 hole options. You take just a few clubs and do your best. I’m not a great golfer\, handicap 24\, or runner\, but I have played to my handicap and taken under an hour for 18 holes. SUMMARY:Huntly Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The event involves the traditional Half Marathon distance of 21.1km which is officially measured and certified under ANZ standards. There is also a 10km\, 5km and RUN kids 2km for Under 16-year-olds. All events have the option of either a Run or Walk. \nThis has been a new course for the past few years and produces fast times. It features a virtually flat single out & back route that follows the mighty Waikato River on completely on sealed roads. This course will only be used for the Half Marathon participants and no other event distances. \nAs New Zealand’s largest and oldest Half Marathon events the Huntly Half Marathon has had a long and enviable history since it started back in March 1981.

SUMMARY:Toi’s Challange
DESCRIPTION:The Julians Berry Farm and Cafe Toi’s Challenge in Whakatane on Sunday\, 24 November 2019 is an annual 18km trail run and walk event which\, along with Radio 1XX 18km and Robinson Law 6km fun runs/walks\, is organised by the Whakatane Athletic & Harrier Club. \n\n\nTois Challenge 18km course follows the ‘Nga Tapuwai o Toi’ track\, which literally means ‘In the Footsteps of Toi’\, after the Maori chief Toi who ruled the area some 800 years ago. The trail twists up and down steep coastal hills and along two beautiful beaches\, through stunning bush\, up and down hundreds of steps\, eased by stunning views of the sparkling Pacific Ocean and distant islands. This challenge can be taken on as a relay team of two people. \nThe Robinson Law 6 km fun run or walk is a quick but tough run/walk up steps and hills through the bush track known locally as the ‘Birdwalk’. Once at the top\, it goes back downhill to Rex Morpeth Park via the footpath down Mokoroa Gorge. \n\n\n\nOfficial website here\n\n\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Taking in some of Hamilton’s best known landmarks\, the 12km and 6km courses include the scenic Waikato River paths and the iconic Hamilton bridges. Kids event 2km. \nRound the Bridges is one of the oldest annually contested events in New Zealand. DESCRIPTION:RNR (NgarotoNowhere…) \nAs we are not attending NRR this year\, the club is instead arranging this fun relay style event as an alternative. \nThe format will be 3 people relay teams completing a lap of the lake each (5.9km). The 3 people kids race will be one lap completed collectively.\nWe will meet at the second carpark at the end of Banks Rd at 12:30pm to register and sort out teams\, with the intention we kick it off at 1pm…(it should take around 1:10 – 1:40 for the 3 x laps)\n\nMeet at this carp park at 12:30 for registrations with the race starting at 13:00.\nLink to the Facebook event <<here>> \nWe will also extended the invite to Cambridge\, Te Awamutu\, and Frankton clubs to enter teams – so there could be a good bit of old fashioned inter-club rivalry driving the performances on the day… \nWe plan to have a BBQ at the completion of the race\, so hope to see you there. It should be a fun day out in a great setting. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Sing Relay is a unique two-person fun relay on a 5km course and run in the “Helen Hall-King’s race format” from the clubrooms. This is a relay for all abilities and is loads of fun. You will either run less or more than 5km depending on your ability and that of your team member. Teams picked at 1.30 and the race starting at 1.50pm.\n\nKids welcome – they can take part in the relay too (or we will have a kids race\, depending on numbers and ages). \nAt this stage this event won’t be held from the Hawks clubrooms. DESCRIPTION:This is a very popular event on the Hawks calendar and brings in many who haven’t attended the earlier cross country races. The format is a handicap road race whereby each entrant has a starting time based on their estimated 5km time. Slowest start first. \nIt will be held (start | finish) at Horsham Downs hall/school\, as in previous years. \nEvent Program:\n12:30 –1 pm.  Registration outside the Horsham Downs hall.\n1:00 pm Boys & Girls U15   2 km.\n1:15 pm First Sweeney Cupper leaves\n2:00 pm-ish Most runners start\n2:45 pm Approximate finish time – Note Unfortunately there is no afternoon tea this year due to the Covid restrictions… \nRegistration\nAll runners and walkers collect a timing tag and CALCULATE their own finishing time from the table showing 5k times (and last years results).\nClub runners will be given a numbered tag. \nPlease remember to register on the Wufoo form prior to attending – form can be accessed <<here>> \nBase Manager – Graham Dudfield
