SUMMARY:Sanitorium Hill King & Queen of the Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Sanitorum Hill\, just outside of Cambridge is a great challenge for those that love racing hills. \nDistances: 4.8km for full race and 2km for 12 and under. \nDetails below are based on last years event and needs to be confirmed via the Hawks weekly newsletter prior to the event. \nRun will start with first walkers going at 1pm from the corner Fencourt and Maungakawa Roads \nPlease bring a plate for afternoon tea as our contribution towards the event\, will be at 2:45pm. \nStart time is 1:00pm on Saturday for the first person.\nTarget finish time is exactly 1:00:00 hour and for runners the self-handicap is best calculated from a 6km flat road equivalent. \nTypically both races are handicapped starts: \nB10\, G10\, B12\, G12 grades. Start with 2k to go. Feels like 2.6km flat.\nB14\, G14 grades start with 3k to go. Feels like 4.0km flat.\nAll others start with 4.8km to go. Feels like 6.0km flat. \nRemember roads are open. All runners to stay on the RIGHT at all times. No crossing the centreline ever. At the finish – you will get an ear-tag with a number. Hold on to it and stay in your finishing order. Keep walking ahead. Give your number and name to someone who will record it.

SUMMARY:North Island Cross Country Champs
DESCRIPTION:This is a great annual event\, even for those who are not that comfortable running cross country\, as it covers rolling park-like grounds and is well drained underfoot. This event is open to all athletes. There is a huge turn out from clubs through out the North Island. \nThe course is firm\, fast and flowing\, and later you can enjoy the free thermal pools at the river’s edge behind the venue. \nApproved by Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty\, Athletics New Zealand.\nSanctioned Event \nRun under Athletics NZ rules as open races and membership of a running club NOT essential\n(Any runner can enter and win place medals) \nEntries are easily done on-line view here \nOn-line entries close on 2nd July\, but on the day entries are available at late fee x 2.\nThis event is also open to non-club members. \nCompetitors will be issued with tickets that can be exchanged for a hot drink and muffin at the venue. \nHawks Past Results

SUMMARY:Sing Relay
DESCRIPTION:The Sing Relay is a unique two person fun relay on a 5km course and run in the “Helen Hall-King’s race format from the club rooms.  Both team members start together. However\, the faster runner runs ahead to the half way point and then turns around to meet their other runner. At the point of meeting\, both runners turn around and run back to finish line the exact way they have just run. The team that takes top honours is the team that has both runners home first. \nThis is a relay for all abilities and is loads of fun. You will either run less or more than 5km depending on your ability and that of your team member. \nDoors to the club rooms open from 12.30pm with teams picked at 1.30 and the race starting at 1.50pm. \nSuitable for all ages. 2015 winners were Ben Wild (an under 10) and Dion Hardy (an over 40) \nCome and have fun\, and bring a small something as a contribution towards afternoon tea.\nLook forward to seeing you there!

SUMMARY:Club Cross Country Champs - Open Event
DESCRIPTION:This is a major event on the club calendar each year\, this year we also welcome all Waikato Bay of Plenty clubs as an Open club event. Held at Minogue Park\, meeting next to the miniature railway\, at the end of Tui Avenue. \nThe course covers a 3 km lap and/or a 2 km lap\, with a 1 km lap for the younger juniors. It is a challenging course with some hills and it can be wet and muddy. Suits Spikes or Trail shoes (or bare feet for the brave). \nJunior runners can only run up 1 grade\, and we limit anyone to running  1 race on the day. \nPlease wear your Club Singlet as this is an open event to all Waikato Bay of Plenty athletics Clubs.\nBring a plate and hot water flask along for afternoon tea at Minogue Park. \nHawks Past Results \nRace Times: \nWe will be having 2 races only. In the late 60s\, for example\, the Centennial Pools (now Waterworld) were built smack bang in the middle of our course. It was a good running course then (with a heap of high fences) as is our current course.  Yes it does get a bit wet during the raining season\, but\, hey\, that’s cross country.  Merely running the course\, we are steeped in history. The current course was designed by Gordon Speirs in the mid 90s\, with only minor changes since.

DESCRIPTION:A 42km\, 25km\, 17 or 10km off-road run/walk based around Rainbow Mountain\, Rotorua. DESCRIPTION:This is an interesting and challenging course\, twisting through the 2.6 km of pebbled pathways of this beautiful reserve land. \nOops\, almost forgot to mention the nice up-hill finish.\nRoad or trail shoes suitable. \nWhen: Saturday 15 th June \nArrive: at 12:30pm at the Arboretum car park\, off the end of Taitua Road. \nWhat: We will select EVENLY MATCHED TEAMS of three runners each\, from the people that attend. This will be a standard format relay of one 3km lap of the Arboretum for each runner.\nWe suggest you allow time to do a warmup / familiarisation lap. \nWhere: Taitua Arboretum (Directions….Take Whatawhata Road out of Hamilton\, turn left into Howden Road . DESCRIPTION:This year it is going to be raced as the first real House race of the year so teams are not needed to be sorted like we have done in previous years ie Schools or like last year where you live in the city. \nYou gain a participation point for your house for coming along and running. \nThis year the race itself is going to be run over 4 kms  2 by 2 km laps very do able for all. You run as Individuals with your placing in the race taken note of\, where we will allocate points to you depending on your placing ie if you finish 1st and we have 40 runners taken part you will gain 40 race points\, 2nd 39  race points\, 10th 31 race points and so on till we have everyone finished. \nThese race points will be added together from all those in your house. The house who accumulates the most race points is the winning house gaining 75 BONUS INTER HOUSE COMPETITION POINTS to go on top of your participation points\, 2nd 50 Bonus points\, 3rd 25 Bonus points and 4th sorry no Bonus points. \nSo the more house members your house has there the chances of gaining some good House bonus points is high. Get rallying your house mates to show up. \nIf we have runners who are not in a house as have not registered yet they can still run and place as normal but don’t have any points allocated to them for their placing. \nThere is a kids race over a 1km lap they can chose to run 1 km or 2 kms \n\nDoors open 12.30 pm\nRun down to the lake where the start area is just past the rail track 1.30 pm\nKids race at 1.50 pm\nAdults race at 2.10 pm\n\nBring a plate for afterwards back at the club rooms.

SUMMARY:Huntly Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The event involves the traditional Half Marathon distance of 21.1km which is officially measured and certified under ANZ standards. There is also a 10km\, 5km and RUN kids 2km for Under 16 year olds. All events have the option of either a Run or Walk. \nThis new course is one that is expected to be FAST. It features a virtually flat single out & back route that follows the mighty Waikato River on completely on sealed roads. This course will only be used for the Half Marathon participants and no other event distances. \nLate March will provide better weather conditions to run in and is perfectly positioned 6 weeks prior to the Rotorua Marathon for those of you that need a Build Up race. \nAs New Zealand’s largest and oldest Half Marathon events the Huntly Half Marathon has had a long and enviable history since it started back in March 1981.

SUMMARY:Trophy Day
DESCRIPTION:Trophy day is a handicap start\, and is our traditional season opener. Not to be missed! Lots of trophies up for grabs\, and you may just score one\, forget\, and then be pleasantly surprised at prize giving in October. \nThis is a handicap race from the club rooms with a staggered start based on your approximate or estimated 5km time – so in theory\, everyone should finish together. In the past there have been some very exciting finishes with the bulk of the field often only within 30 or 40 seconds. It’s a great chance for those who aren’t normally near the front to scoop one of the clubs most sought after trophies (…and to test your maths and timing skills). \nDoors open 12.30 pm \nRegistrations taken from them on wards this is a handicap  5 km race so  runners  need estimate their time they will do. \nKids 2 km race is first at 1.30 pm mass start here. \n5 km race starts at 1.50 with the clock counting down and runners leave once their time they estimated comes up. \nBring plate for afternoon tea

It brings you all that’s great about being outdoors and active\, and rolls it into an event that anyone can be part of. SUMMARY:NZ 100km Champs
DESCRIPTION:The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in Christchurch organise an annual ultramarathon at Hagley Park North in Christchurch\, with this year’s event on Sunday\, 5 May 2019. \nThere are 100km and 50km races\, which follow a 2.5km loop course. The 100km can be run solo\, or as part of a 4 person relay team\, with each team member completing 25km. \nThe 100km Race is an IAU Bronze Label event and incorporates the Athletics New Zealand (link is external) National 100km Championships. DESCRIPTION:This is the 8th running of the Paperplus Te Awamutu Athletics Club Golf Course Fun Run held at the Te Awamutu Golf Club on Kihikihi Road. \nSaturday 13th April. Race starts at 9.30am. This event is open to the Public and Registered Athletes \nPrizegiving follows asap by approx 11.30am in the Golf Course Clubhouse. \nAn event for all abilites with the unique ability to race on a Golf Course with a rolling aspect and good underfoot conditions\, suitable for spikes. Although adjacent to a main road the event offers a safe environment for families\, with kids able to finish their 3k run whilst their parents continue in their own event. \nThere is a 3k run for Students $7\, a 3k and 6k walk and 6k and 9k run\, all $20. Registered athletes wearing their Club singlets get a $5 discount in the 6k and 9k events. Online entries close at 4pm Friday 12th. Late entry fees apply to entries after that time – $3 for Student 3k race\, $5 for all other events. These will be taken on the day. \nAll athletes start at the same time and will complete one\, two or three 3k circuits. Athletes will be issued with a race number and will recieve a finishing time and certificate. Numbers are to be handed in at completion to go in to the prize draw. \nThe Golf Course will reopen to Members at 12am. Please ensure you or your supporters do not run or walk on any of the Greens. It is a privilege to have access to the Course – we don’t want to loose that. \nAll proceeds go into a Travel Fund to assist our Club’s athletes on representative duties. DESCRIPTION:The National Road Relays is over the Takahe to Akaroa course in Christchurch this year. The race starts at the Sign of the Takahe and follows the traditional route through Governors Bay\, Gebbies Valley\, Little River and Duvauchelle to Akaroa. The Junior Relay\, Open Masters over 60 and Corporate/Social grade will start at Allandale (start of lap 2 Senior Race) and finish at\nCooptown (End of lap 5 Senior Race) \n \nA bus will take us from the Clubrooms to Auckland Airport\, departing approximately 8:15am on Friday morning (5th October). Pickup is also available at Porritt Stadium at 8:30am. \nOutward flight times are: \n\nDepart Auckland at 11:40am on Friday 5th October\nArrive Christchurch at 1:05pm\n\nTeam vans are booked with Hertz to pick-up from Christchurch Airport (volunteer drivers needed please). \nReturn flight time is: \n\nDepart Christchurch at 12:25pm on Sunday 7th October\nArrive Auckland Airport at 1:45pm\n\nA bus will take us from Auckland Airport back to the Clubrooms\, arriving back in Hamilton approx 3:45pm. \nAccommodation & Saturday Night Meal \nAccommodation for all the teams has been booked at the Lincoln Motel (where we have stayed for the last 2 years).
