DESCRIPTION:This is a new event for 2016 hosted by Hamilton City Hawks. \nCross country relay held at Narrows Christian Camp\, Hamilton. Race distance will be approximately 3.3km for each leg over varied and undulating terrain. Teams will consist of four people.  There will also be a Children’s individual race for grade 10 and 12 athletes held over 1 lap (1.65km). \nNote that there are no restrictions on teams\, they may be mixed club\, mixed gender and athletes may do more than one leg in the same team. The event is open to all athletes. \nCourse run counter clockwise. This is in reverse direction to the 2015 WBOP XC Championships\, with a few small course changes.

DESCRIPTION:Reduction relay is a fun cross country event where runners were divided into mixed teams and must all run together. DESCRIPTION:Trophy Day based at club rooms. Handicap starts in our traditional season opener. Plenty of trophies up for grabs\, be certain to compete on the day. This event is open to everyone. \nNot to be missed! You may even score surprise trophies\, forget\, and then be pleasantly surprised at prize giving in October. \nThis is a handicap race from the club rooms with a staggered start based on your approximate or estimated 5km time. In theory\, everyone should finish together. In the past there have been some very exciting finishes with the bulk of the field often only within 30 or 40 seconds. Its a great chance for those who aren’t normally near the front to scoop one of the clubs most sought after trophies. \nFormat – 5km handicap race. 1pm clubroom open\, kids’ races at 1:30pm\, with adults handicap starting at 1:50pm. BBQ and drinks afterwards. \nHandicap race from the club rooms. Self selecting your estimated 5km time\, leaving at intervals. Winner is first back. Kids under 10 and those older who wish to will do a non handicapped shorter event.

SUMMARY:Sing Relay
DESCRIPTION:The Sing Relay is a unique two person fun relay on a 5km course and run in the “Helen Hall-King’s race format from the club rooms.  Both team members start together. However\, the faster runner runs ahead to the half way point and then turns around to meet their other runner. At the point of meeting\, both runners turn around and run back to finish line the exact way they have just run. The team that takes top honours is the team that has both runners home first. \nThis is a relay for all abilities and is loads of fun. You will either run less or more than 5km depending on your ability and that of your team member. \nDoors to the club rooms open at 1.00pm with teams picked at 1.30 and the race starting at 1.50pm. \nSuitable for all ages. Last years winners were Ben Wild (an under 10) and Dion Hardy (an over 40) \nCome and have fun\, and bring a small something as a contribution towards afternoon tea.\nLook forward to seeing you there!

DESCRIPTION:The event involves the traditional Half Marathon distance of 21.1km which is officially measured and certified under ANZ standards. There is also a 10km\, 5km and RUN kids 2km for Under 16 year olds. All events have the option of either a Run or Walk. \nNEW is the key word for NZ’s oldest standalone Half Marathon. Our race organisers RunNZ has taken all your feedback on board and made some MAJOR changes for 2016 and beyond! \nNEW COURSE! This new course is one that is expected to be FAST. It features a virtually flat single out & back route that follows the mighty Waikato River on completely on sealed roads. This course will only be used for the Half Marathon participants and no other event distances. \nNEW DATE! So we are moving to the warmer month of March\, 20th March infact. This will provide better weather conditions to run in and is perfectly positioned 6 weeks prior to the Rotorua Marathon for those of you that need a Build Up race. \nAs New Zealand’s largest and oldest Half Marathon events the Huntly Half Marathon has had a long and enviable history since it started back in March 1981. \nGrowing over the years to a peak of just over 3000 in 2010 and sustaining numbers between the 2500-3000 participant mark over the last decade is a testament to the tremendous job done by Hamilton Hawks and the high regard this event has around New Zealand.

SUMMARY:Club Road Champs
DESCRIPTION:Club Road Champs has been held over the years on the slightly undulating 2km Ruakura loop course\, which is a traffic free course allowing you to concentrate solely on your running.  This is a major event on the Hawks event calendar and is open to all club members. \nEvent entry and car parking held near the McMeekan Centre. \nEnter via the Ruakura Road entrance (the barrier arm will be unlocked). There will be no entry from Bisley Road (which used to be part of Tramway Road) unless you walk from the gate.

SUMMARY:Red Stag Redwoods Relay
DESCRIPTION:This relay is a great annual event for running and walking teams with a course that winds its way through the iconic Redwood Forest. It is an event that is looked forward to by all and well represented by running clubs coming from as far as Hawera and Auckland. \n\nThe relay is open to running and walking teams from athletic clubs\, schools\, corporate and social teams over a distance of 5km per team member for the adult teams\, and 3.2km for the youth teams. The event is based by the Redwoods Visitor Centre\, Long Mile Road\, Rotorua and is run or walked through the iconic and beautiful Redwoods and adjacent forest nursery area. \nThere is a range of team and individual spot prizes to be won.

SUMMARY:Whangamata Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The Whangamata Run/Walk Festival has Half Marathon\, 10km and 5km events. All three courses take in spectacular views of ocean beach & pristine bush-clad hills along the way. The Half Marathon starts with a town circuit\, then out on to SH25 with a turn around 1km north of Top Pub and back to town again. The 5K is a flat course around the town streets. The 10K is partly around town and also out on SH25. It starts and ends at the Whangamata Area School\, Port Road\, Whangamata.

SUMMARY:Matamata Around the Streets Relays
DESCRIPTION:Popular long standing event and this year kicks off the start of the Road season and attracts around 30 teams from around the Waikato Bay of Plenty.  This is a quick 3.3km circuit clockwise around the streets and footpaths of Matamata.\nIt is a great event organised well by a small club and has strong support from walkers attending the event too. \nTeams of 5 for the men\, 4 for the women and 3 for the U16s. Hawks always have a good turnout to this event. The event is open graded\, Athletic New Zealand sanctioned\, AWBOP approved and conducted under Athletics New Zealand rules.

SUMMARY:Hawks Relay at Taitua Arboretum
DESCRIPTION:The race is approximately a 3km all gravel loop of the Taitua Arboretum.  Hope to have a traditional relay format\, depending on numbers. \nThis is a standard relay race with each runner running around a 3 km lap on hard packed unsealed paths and grass\, twisting through the tree park. Evenly matched teams will be selected at the event. \nBring a snack and enjoying the Arboretum after the run. \nWhere:  Taitua Arboretum ( Take Whatawhata road out of town. After passing the golf club\, turn left into Howden Road. Then left into Taitua Road. Meet in the Arboretum car park at the end of Taitua Road.
