SUMMARY:North Island Cross Country Champs
DESCRIPTION:This is a great annual event\, even for those who are not that comfortable running cross country\, as it covers rolling park-like grounds and is well drained underfoot. This event is open to all athletes. There is a huge turn out from clubs through out the North Island. \nApproved by Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty\, Athletics New Zealand.\nSanctioned Event Number WBP 1607 \nRun under Athletics NZ rules as open races and membership of a running club NOT essential\n(Any runner can enter and win place medals) \nFull event details in PDF format viewed here \nCompetitors will be issued with tickets that can be exchanged for a hot drink and muffin at the venue. \nLate Entries: \n\nLate entry surcharge of $5 per athlete applies after Tuesday 28 June 2016\, up until race day\n“On the Day” entries will be accepted at 2X the listed entry fee. SUMMARY:Hawks Relay at Taitua Arboretum
DESCRIPTION:The race is approximately a 3km all gravel loop of the Taitua Arboretum. Hope to have a traditional relay format\, depending on numbers. \nThis is a standard relay race with each runner running around a 3 km lap on hard packed unsealed paths and grass\, twisting through the tree park. \nBring a snack and enjoying the Arboretum after the run. \nWhere: Taitua Arboretum ( Take Whatawhata road out of town. After passing the golf club\, turn left into Howden Road. Then left into Taitua Road. Meet in the Arboretum car park at the end of Taitua Road. \nWhen: Saturday 23 th July \nArrive: 1:00pm at carpark off end of Taitua Road. \nWhat: We will select EVENLY MATCHED TEAMS of four runners each\, from the people that attend. \n \n

SUMMARY:Sweeney Cup
DESCRIPTION:This is a very popular event on the Hawks calendar and brings in many who haven’t attended the earlier cross country races. Handicap Road Race whereby each entrant has a starting time based on their estimated 5km time. Slowest start first. \nEvent Program:\n12:30 –1 pm.  Registration Horsham Downs Hall.\n1:15 pm Boys & Girls U15   2 km.\n1:30 pm  Sweeney Cup – 8km – Clock counts down from 60 minutes with 1st walkers starting\n2:00 pm-ish Most runners start\n2:45 pm Afternoon tea and prizes (Please bring a plate) \nRegistration/ Late Entries \n\nAll runners and walkers collect a timing tag and CALCULATE their own finishing time from the table showing 5k times (and last years results)\nClub runners will be given a numbered tag\nRegistrations – Non -club runners\nHandicaps – Not required – Self handicapped\n\nStart/ Finish –On the left hand side by the school gate. Entrants to run over the mat when they start. The clock will count down\, then runner starts when the time on the clock is their estimated finish time. \n2km Juniors race – Same start and finish. Run down the walkway and back up the road on the right. \nPrizes \n\n1st home fastest and lucky spot prizes\n\nBase Manager – Graham Dudfield\nA few helpers are needed for this one too – text Graham 0274898768 if you’re able to lend a hand. \nCourse \n\nCourse Map will be posted\nAll Runners walkers go down the Osbourne Rd hill on the way out on the gravel walkway and stay on the walkway until Reynolds road.\n2 laps of Reynolds road – around the cones.\nOn the return up the hill Walkers stay on walkway – Runners stay on the road until the final section near the finish
