Around 450 runners and walkers took to the streets in and around Cambridge for the Cambridge Half Marathon – hosted by our friends at Cambridge Harriers. Of that number there were around 26 Hawks (past and present that I could see) competing in what was almost perfect conditions – no rain, no wind, and not too hot. Some fantastic results – with former Hawk Jack Murray taking the win in the half in 1:19:28 – great run Jack! Harry Coles also made the top 10 coming in at 6th in 1:24:28.

In the 10km Helen Hall-King had a great run for 2nd female overall and 1st in her age grade in 45:47 (and a fantastic 8th overall!). Also great runs all round from the team training for Melbourne Marathon in a few weeks! (I am looking at you Emily and Wendy!)

In the 5k, Hawks runners took out both the Male and Female races, with Jake Lomas finishing 1st overall in 17:15, and Boh Ritchie taking the honours in the women’s race in 18:35. In the 2km kids dash the Liang family had a good day, Mckenzie Liang managing 2nd in the girls race, with her sister Claire not far behind in 5th. And Austin also made top 10 with an 8th placing in the boys race.

Overall we also had a total of 16 age grade podiums, so all in all a pretty successful day!

Well done to you all, and thanks to Cambridge Harriers for putting on a well organised and fun day.
