Waikato Bay of Plenty Road Champs

The 2017 Waikato-Bay of Plenty Road Championships will be held in Hamilton.

The course is mainly flat with one short hill and consists of a 2.5 km out and back course.

Event #3 1.00pm Boys/girls U15 (13, 14 yrs) 2.5km $8.00
Event #4 1.00pm Women U18 (15, 16, 17 years) 5km $10.00
Event #5 1.00pm Women U20 (18,19 yrs) 5km $10.00
Event #6 1.00pm Masters Women (35 plus) 5km $10.00
Event #7 1.00pm Men U18 (15, 16, 17 yrs) 5km $10.00
Event #8 1.00pm Men U20 (18, 19 yrs) 7.5km $12.00
Event #9 1.00pm Men 20 (20-34 yrs) 10km $15.00
Event #10 1.00pm Women 20 (20-34 yrs) 10km $15.00
Event #11 1.00pm Masters Men (35 plus) 10km $15.00

Late Fee applies of additional $5 on all entries after 14th August 2017.

Course location / Description: 400 Raynes Road, Tamahere, Hamilton. Take Highway 21 (Airport Road) then turn off onto Raynes Road. The course entry is about 350 m down Raynes Road (the second right turn). Car Parking is located about on both sides of the road as you approach the race course. Detailed map see PDF here

The main course is a 2.5 km out and back loop over mainly flat terrain, with one short hill. Race distances are either 2.5km, 5km, 7.5 km or 10km. The course has been slightly amended for 2017.
The Children’s 2 km is also and out and back loop, with a turning point after 1km.

Light Traffic may be on the course – Care must be taken by all competitors and marshalls must be obeyed.

Facilities: Portaloo toilets will be close to start/finish area. Club tents can be placed in the field next to that area prior to 12pm. Parking on both sides of the road as you approach the course from the entrance. Prize-giving / Refreshments: Prizegiving for the Athletics Waikato BOP championship events will be on site at the conclusion of events. Athletes and supporters are asked to bring own food and drinks.

Smiths Sports Shoes have generously sponsored the event, allowing us to provide spot prizes this year. These will be presented at prizegiving. Eligibility: To be eligible for an Athletics Waikato BOP championship placing, athletes (including masters’ grades) must be registered as a competitive athlete with Athletics Waikato-Bay of Plenty. Non-registered (unaffiliated) or socially registered athletes may compete but are ineligible for Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty championship placing or medals. Note that the current registration season is from 1st April 2017- 31st March 2018.

Grades: Where races are combined, the grades will be separated in the results.

Ages: Masters graded athletes is age on the day, with results recorded in 5-year age groups. All other grades age is at 31 December 2017.

Closing date: Entries must be made online or sent to the AWBOP Administration officer by Monday 14 August 2017. All entries after 14 August will be $5.00 extra per person. No refund of entry fees will be made. Entries will be accepted on the day for an extra $5.00pp fee. On the day entries close at 11am.

These are to be forwarded to Athletics Waikato BOP Administrator, PO Box 46, Hamilton 3240. Cheques to be made payable to Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty Inc. or payment can be made by direct credit to 02-0320-0028416-00. Put your name and WBOP Roads as references. Athletics Waikato-Bay of Plenty team to the New Zealand Road Championships (Saturday 2nd September 2017), Christchurch. The Waikato BOP team will be selected from those entered at close of entries for the championships
