National Cross Country Champs 2023 Results
Taupo put on a spectacular day last Saturday for the New Zealand Cross Country Champs. It was clear and crisp in the morning with a slight frost on the ground, but with lots of sun and very little wind it warmed up nicely, and running conditions were near perfect.
There was a large field of ~430 runners from across the country descending on Taupo to test themselves on what has to be one of the best XC courses in New Zealand! Amongst them was a small but determined group of 16 Hawks competing across the divisions, and some great running saw 4 of them nab a national medal for their efforts. Well done to all who ran, but particularly those who made the podium, it was fantastic to see.
Hawks National Medals:
- Jack Stirling – U14 Boys 3000m – 3rd place
- Jake Lomas – U16 Boys 4000m – 3rd place
- Boh Ritchie – U20 Women 6000m – 2nd place (running up a grade)
- Michael Peck – Masters Men 55-59 8000m – 3rd place
