Well another fantastic day down in Taupo last Saturday for the North Island Cross Country Champs. 13 Hawks travelled down to compete in near perfect conditions…early cloud clearing to a stunning sunny afternoon – with just enough cool breeze to remind you we are in Taupo!

A good number of runners overall again this year with just under 500 competing. Of the 13 Hawks running we managed 4 age grade medals – with Aimee Ferguson running a great race to 3rd place in the Senior Women. Mike Peck also had a great race to win gold in the MM55-59 grade by over 2 and a half minutes!

And then it was a 1-2 in the MM70-74 grade with Grahame Clarkin taking 2nd just ahead of Dave Clark in 3rd.

Congratulations to all those who competed, it was once again a well organised day on what has to be one of the best (and toughest) cross country courses around. Also a huge thanks to the organisers of this years event, the Taupo Harrier Club.
