Sing Relay Results – 18 April 2026
The weather held off and the conditions were good for the annual Hawks Sing Relay on Saturday 18th April. Once we were all on the same page on how the relay worked, Emily had us line up and paired up a faster and slower runner.
Following the Cook 5km course, everybody started in the same direction until the faster runner in each pair met the slower runner on the return from Cobham Bridge. Then the slower runner turned around and ran back to the finish while the faster runner went back to Cobham turnaround before also heading to the finish. A fun day.

Don’t even know where to start with this event. Such a great event, and always so much fun. Slower runners get to run with the fast guys and girls and maximum amount of effort is put in from all.
On Saturday, we were so lucky with the weather with a gap in the unpredictable rain.
People started to come down the path and then I realised that it might be up to me to organise this event. After having some brief discussions about how the course should run, I made the executive decision to run it however I wanted. My race briefing included telling everyone to ‘just send it’ and ‘its just for run’ which may have been contradictory statements, forgetting there was actually a trophy up for grabs. Some quick tutoring from Sandra on the timing and we were into it.
The turn out was excellent with some of the crew even arriving by kayak and after ringing in Ray to make up the numbers, we had 9 teams. Deciding on who was faster in the middle of the line up provided some discussion but it was worked out without too many issues.
Not long after 1pm they set off. At the turn around everyone was very close together. But as time went on the course spread out and was outstanding running over the line.
Everyone seemed to have a good time, with no complaints and even new faces who will hopefully become familiar faces throughout the season.
Always an outstanding first race of the season, with so much inclusivity and banter.
Thank you everyone who came and enjoyed the company and the laughs, see you at the next one.
