Riverside Cross Country 2014 Results
Club racing was back at the club rooms this week for a challenging cross country on the Cobham drive course. With great weather conditions a good field of 44 turned out to test out how their training is going with less than 2 weeks before our cross country club champs. It was great to see a good number of juniors turn up for the 2 km race. Sam Smith was first over the line in 8.17 closely followed by Charli Miller 8.28 and Lucy Farrell 8.48.
In the 4 km race the battle between Matt Scott and Harry Ewing continues with Harry having the edge over Matt winning in 14.34, Matt 14.55 and Hikaru Mita 3rd in 17.42.
In the women’s race Helen Hall-King had a solid race to be first over the line in 17.59 closely followed by Dawn Tuffery 18.16 (who has only just returned from a great win in New Caledonia) and Maureen Leonard was 3rd in 18.40.
In the 6km race there was a battle for honor’s in the MM with Corey Hinde, Mr. President (Glenn) and John Crane battling out the 3 laps. John got a bit behind in the first lap and used up a bit of energy to catch up only to be out kicked in the last km. Corey took 1st in 22.38 closely followed by Glenn in 22.41 and John was 3rd in 22.56. Lance Brew was first senior man over the line in 24.30 followed by Sunil in 25.10 and Troy Flavell in 27.14.
Thanks to all that helped and participated on the day and to make all participants feel a little better about their times the general consensus was the course was close to 2.1 km. Looking forward to seeing a big turn out at the School of Origin next week and it is a good opportunity to introduce friends to running.
